UPAYA PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM BERBASIS KEARIFAN LOKAL DALAM MENINGKATKAN KEPEDULIAN SOSIAL SISWA

Abstract

Globalization and reduced social interaction pose challenges to character development in students. This study investigates how Islamic Religious Education (PAI) grounded in local wisdom can enhance social awareness among students at SMPN 1 Pamarayan. Employing a qualitative field study, data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation involving principals, PAI teachers, and seventh-grade students. Data analysis followed three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Findings indicate that incorporating local wisdom in PAI activities—such as Character Fridays, tahlilan, yasinan, and muhadharah—effectively cultivates empathy, solidarity, and social responsibility. Local traditions like gotong royong complement Islamic values and provide contextual, meaningful learning experiences. This approach demonstrates that PAI based on local wisdom not only strengthens religious understanding but also fosters caring and socially responsible students, offering a viable model for character education aligned with local culture in Islamic schools.
